Destiny Anderson
Closed Captioning Manager
After studying Psychology and English at The University of Alberta, Destiny pursued a career in Human Services, aiding and advocating for people with both physical and psychological challenges. Near the end of her decade-long Human Services career, Destiny started to take an interest in wildlife and outdoor pursuits as a means to cope with the high demands and erratic schedule of her role as a frontline social worker. When she saw that GigEcast, Wild TV’s sister company, was hiring a closed captioner, she jumped at the opportunity to immerse herself in the industry by pursuing her other loves: writing and editing. Destiny has been with GigEcast since 2012 and has advanced to the position of Closed Captioning Manager. She says her favorite part of the job is communicating with GigEcast’s clients, getting to know their needs, and keeping up with their projects.
Shane Roberts
Quality Control Supervisor
After graduating from NAIT with a diploma in Radio and Television-Television, Shane Roberts, inspired by his time interning as a closed captioner, decided to devote himself to this career path. Since 2016, he has been a proud member of the GigEcast team, starting as a captioner and advancing to the role of Quality Control Supervisor. Shane applies his total of six years of captioning experience to his current position by executing the high standards of quality in accuracy, timing, and readability that he has learned over the years. Shane says that one of the reasons he joined the GigEcast team is because of their strict standards, as he gets irritated by poor quality captions that prevent deaf and hearing-impaired viewers from fully engaging with a program.
